Manually Link to Your Cengage eBook From Canvas

Do not use this procedure if your Canvas course is integrated with Cengage courseware like MindTap, SAM, or WebAssign.

  1. Get the ISBN of the eBook you want your students to use.

  2. Open your Canvas course.

  3. Click Announcements › + Announcement.

  4. Write an announcement linking to the eBook.

    1. Enter your title in Topic Title.

    2. Enter a message in the message field.

      To access your Cengage eBook, sign in with your Cengage email address and password (not your Canvas credentials).

    3. Highlight your link text and click Link to URL.

    4. In URL, type the following address:

      https://gateway.cengage.com/rest/launchBasicLTI/etext/ISBN

      Substitute your eBook ISBN number for ISBN.

      For example:

      https://gateway.cengage.com/rest/launchBasicLTI/etext/9781305224216

    5. Click Insert Link.

  5. Select sections to post your announcement in.

  6. Click Save.

Your message displays to students when they sign in to Canvas.
