Manually Link to Your Cengage eBook From Moodle

Do not use this procedure if your Moodle course is integrated with Cengage courseware like MindTap, SAM, or WebAssign.

  1. Get the ISBN of the eBook you want your students to use.

  2. Open your Moodle course.

  3. Click Announcements.

  4. Click Add a new topic.

  5. Write an announcement linking to the eBook.

    1. Enter your title in Subject.

    2. Enter your message in Message.

      To access your Cengage eBook, sign in with your Cengage email address and password (not your Moodle credentials).

    3. Highlight your link text and click Link.

    4. In URL, type the following address:

      https://gateway.cengage.com/rest/launchBasicLTI/etext/ISBN

      Substitute your eBook ISBN number for ISBN.

      For example:

      https://gateway.cengage.com/rest/launchBasicLTI/etext/9781305224216

    5. Click Open in new window.

    6. Click Create Link.

    7. To pin your message to the top of the student forum, click Pinned.

  6. Click Post to forum.

Your message displays to students when they sign in to Moodle.
