An institution can either purchase a site license for its students or require students to purchase a key code.
Types of licenses
Your institution can adopt one of two types of SAM license. Both types offer the same features, but have different administrative properties.
| License Type | Properties |
|---|---|
| Key Code | Each student purchases a SAM key code, which they must enter to activate their account. Some institutions have a grace period, which allows temporary access for students without a key code. |
| Site License | The institution purchases a license for a specific number of students to use SAM for a fixed period of time. Students covered under a site license do not purchase a key code. |
Note Keyboarding in SAM, SAM for Office 365,
SAM for Office 365/2021, and SAM for
Office 2019 are separate offerings and each requires its own license.
