Macros Disabled in Project File (macOS)

macOS only: When you try to open a project file, you see a notification about disabled macros. Or, macros for the project file do not run and the project cannot be completed.

Prompt to Disable Macros

One of the following messages is displayed:

  • This workbook contains macros. Do you want to disable macros before opening this file?
  • This document contains macros. Do you want to disable macros before opening this file?
Click Enable Macros.

Macros Don't Run

Macros for the project file do not run and the project cannot be completed. The following notification might be displayed:

Microsoft Visual Basic
The macros in this project are disabled.
  1. Close the project file.
  2. In the Office application, open security preferences.
    • Click Word > Preferences > Security.
    • Click Excel > Preferences > Security.
  3. Select Disable all macros with notification.

    Alternatively, you can select Enable all macros.

  4. Close the Preferences window.
  5. Open the project file again.
  6. When prompted, click Enable Macros.
