Create an NGLSync account to access your products and set up your first course.
Alternatives
Create an NGLSync account if you are a first-time MindTap teacher whose district uses NGLSync.
- Your district uses Cengage bulk rostering services or a
Single Sign-On (SSO) system.
Contact your district technology coordinator for login credentials and instructions.
- You access your learning platform through a learning management system (LMS)
like Schoology or Canvas.
An account is automatically created for you after you first sign in to your LMS.

Open the email with access instructions from your district and click
Begin Registration.
If you did not receive an email with a registration link, contact your district administrator or Cengage representative.

Select your institution and click Next.
If you cannot find your institution:
- Click My School Isn't Listed.

Enter the information needed to verify your
institution.
- School name
- School address
- City
- Zip code
- Your email address

Click Submit.
Cengage will verify your institution and email you when it has been added.
- Click Register and continue creating your account.
- Enter your institutional email address and click Next.

Enter your first name, last name, and birth year.
Your user information will be verified to prevent the creation of fraudulent accounts. For faster verification, enter your name as it appears on school documents such as your teacher ID.
- Read and accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Click Verify.
Cengage uses SheerID® to verify your identity and role as an instructor to prevent fraudulent account creation. Many users are instantly verified.
If you are not instantly verified:

Upload a school-issued document from the current year showing your name
and your school.
Acceptable documents include:
- A screenshot from your institution's online portal or learning management system showing your current courses
- A copy of your instructor ID
- A link to your instructor profile on your institution's website
- An official letter from your institution stating that you are an active instructor
If you have issues uploading your documentation, contact SheerID at customerservice@sheerid.com. -
Click Submit.
You will be notified of your results in the next 20 minutes.

If your identity is not verified, you can resubmit proof of identity
two more times.
If SheerID cannot verify your identity, contact Cengage customer support by phone and we will try to verify your identity manually.
If your identity has not been verified, you cannot access instructor-only features.

Upload a school-issued document from the current year showing your name
and your school.

Open the activation email and click Activate
Cengage Account.
If you did not receive an activation email, check your Spam and Junk folders for an email from no-reply@ciammail.cengage.com.

Type a password in both password fields, then click
Set Password.
NoteYour password must contain:
- at least 8 characters
- a lowercase letter
- an uppercase letter
- a number
- no parts of your username
Your NGLSync portal opens. - Accept the terms of use and policy statement and click Accept.
- To start creating your first course, click Next.

Select if you want to create a new course or copy an existing course.
Create new course:
- Select Start a new course and click Next.
- Select your school and click Next.

Select a product and click
Next.
You can scroll through the products purchased by your district, or search by name, subject, or author.
Copy course from course key:
- Select Copy from a course key.
- If you do not know the course key for the course you want to copy, find it in the NGLSync district directory.
- Enter the course key, then click Validate.
- Click Next.
- Select your school and click Next.

Enter your course name, start date, and end date.
You can edit this information later.
- Optional:
To prevent students from automatically joining
your course after a certain date, set Student self
registration to Require approval and
enter a date in Require approval on.
Tip Requiring enrollment approval deters cheating from students with duplicate accounts.
If a student tries to join your course after your chosen date, you will receive an email notification and can approve or deny their request.
- Click Next.
- Review your course information and click Finish.
- Optional:
To add students to your roster now, click Add Students to
Course.
To add students through Google Classroom:
- Click Link to Google Classroom.
- Click Start.

If this is your first time linking a course in NGLSync to a Google Classroom class, a new
tab opens to authenticate your Google account.
Important When prompted to grant NGLSync access to your Google account, select all permissions.

Select a Google Classroom class to
link with your course in NGLSync and click
Link.
A unique launch URL is posted to your Google Classroom stream that students can use to directly access your course.
To let students create their own accounts and enroll in your course:
- Under Self Registration, click View Registration Details.
- Click Copy URL & Course Key.

Give your students the following information to enroll in
your course:
- Student Self-Enrollment Help
- Registration URL
- Course Key
To add students manually:
- Under Manual Registration, click Add Students Manually.

Search for your students by name or ID number.
If a student has an NGLSync account, their name is added under Students to add to your course.
- If a student does not have an NGLSync account, click Create Student Account, enter their information, and click Next.

Review the students listed under Students to
add to your course, then click Next.
Your students are added to your course. If you created new accounts, give students their usernames and passwords.
