Student Achievement Badges

Award shareable badges to students who earn 90% and above on assignments labeled Badge available. Badges are available for capstone projects and MOS practice exams for Office 365®/2021 and newer content versions.

What are badges?

Badges are digital tokens that students can share to social media to show potential employers that they have learned specific computing skills. Badges are awarded when students earn 90% and above on assignments with badging enabled. By default, badges are enabled for all assignments labeled Badge available.

The awarded badge is specific to the Office application and level of the assignment content. Badge levels are:

  • Introductory
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

In addition to these badges, an Expert certificate is awarded after earning all four of the Introductory badges (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access).

How can students access their badges?

To help students access and share their badges, share SAM Student Help: Achievement Badges with your class.

Students can access their badges directly from MindTap by clicking View Badge in their completed assignment or on the Reports page.

You can view the badges that students have earned by generating the following reports:
  • Section Results - by Project
  • Section Results - by Exam
  • Student Results - All Assignments
