Add a Multiple-Choice Question

Author a new multiple-choice question to use in your activity. Students choose one response from a list of options.

Important Question editing and authoring is not available for all courses.

Before you begin

This task is different depending on the version of MindTap used in your class.

If these directions do not match what you see in your class, click MindTap version in the toolbar above and select your MindTap version.

  1. At the top of the activities list, turn on Edit​ .
  2. To expand chapter and activity folders, click Expand.
  3. Click  Edit next to an activity.
  4. At the bottom of the activity settings editor, click Edit Activity Options.
  5. At the bottom of the activity, click Add Question.
    1. If your course includes a question bank, select New Question.
    The question editor opens in your activity.
  6. Click Question Type > Multiple Choice.
  7. Optional: Enter a question title in Enter title.
  8. Enter your question in Enter question.
  9. Enter your responses in Enter answer.
    1. To delete a response, click Delete.
    2. To add another response, click  Add Another Response.
    3. Optional: To add feedback for a response, click Feedback and enter a message in Enter feedback.
    4. Optional: Select a different response to mark it as the correct answer.
      The correct response is selected.
  10. Optional: To add feedback to the overall question, enter a message in Overall Feedback.
  11. Click OK to add your question to your activity.
  12. Click Save and Close to save your activity changes and close the activity editor.

  1. If you did not create the original activity, click Copy to Edit to create your own version of the activity.
    Your version replaces the original activity on the learning path.
  2. Click + Create Question.
  3. Click Add New.
  4. Click Multiple choice - standard.
  5. Enter your question text in Compose question.
  6. In Set correct answer(s), click the response that will be marked correct.
  7. Optional: Select Shuffle options to show students the options in a random order.
  8. Optional: Click Preview to preview your question.
  9. Click Save to add your question to your activity.
