Change Primary Instructor

Primary instructors can assign their role to another instructor—for example, if a new instructor takes over a course, or if an instructor retires or goes on leave.

Every course must have a primary instructor, which you cannot remove. If you are the only instructor for a course, you must add another instructor before you can change the primary instructor. Only instructors (not TAs) can be primary instructors.

  1. Sign in at login.cengage.com.
  2. Click My Courses.
  3. Locate your course and click expand course.
  4. Click Edit Section.
  5. Optional: Add an instructor.
    1. Click Add Instructor.
    2. Enter the instructor's email address and click Add instructor.

    The instructor must already have an account with the specified email address.

  6. Click Make Primary.
  7. Click Save.
  8. In the Instructor Resource Center, go to Manage Courses.
  9. Click Edit icon for your MindTap course.
  10. Under Course Information, click Make Primary (unavailable for TAs) for the instructor.
  11. Click Save Changes.

For the new primary instructor, the course is now listed in Manage Courses; it is no longer listed with your other courses (if any).
