Configure MacOS/OS X for Keyboard Accessibility

By default, MacOS/OS X is not configured to use the TAB key to navigate to all items in your browser. If you are using Apple Safari, you also need to configure it to use TAB to navigate to all items on the page.

Google Chrome

You're all set! These changes are not needed for Chrome™.

Safari

  1. Configure macOS to allow keyboard access for all controls.
    1. Open System Preferences and click Keyboard.
    2. Click the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
    3. Under Full Keyboard Access, select All controls.
  2. Open Safari and configure it to allow you to use TAB to navigate to each item.
    1. Click Safari > Preferences.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Select Press Tab to highlight each item in a webpage.

Firefox

Configure macOS to allow keyboard access for all controls.
  1. Open System Preferences and click Keyboard.
  2. Click the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
  3. Under Full Keyboard Access, select All controls.
