Add Cengage Infuse Content in Blackboard

Add Cengage Infuse reading assignments, concept checks, and end-of-chapter quizzes to your Blackboard® course.

Assignment types

Reading assignment
A section of the book for students to read.
Concept check
A quick activity that checks if students have completed assigned readings.
Quiz
A longer activity that assesses students' understanding of an entire chapter.
Note You can return to the Cengage tool at any point to add more content.
  1. Open your Blackboard course.
  2. Add Cengage Infuse content to your course.
    Blackboard Original
    1. Click Content > Build Content > Cengage Content.
      If the Cengage tool is not shown under Build Content, see Can't Find Cengage Content in Blackboard.
    Blackboard Ultra
    1. Click + > Content Market.
    2. Click Cengage Content under Institution Tools.
      Important If you see a Cengage tool shown under Content Market, do not select it. This is an outdated version of the integration that will be removed soon. Only add the Cengage tool under Institution Tools.

      If the Cengage tool is not shown under Institution Tools, see Can't Find Cengage Content in Blackboard.

  3. If prompted, sign in to your Cengage instructor account to link your Blackboard and Cengage accounts.

    If you don't have a Cengage instructor account, click Create Account.

    This window might not be shown if your browser does not allow pop-ups for the Blackboard domain.

  4. On the Integrate with Cengage page, click Select Cengage Infuse.
  5. On the Select Title page, select the textbook to use in your class.
    • To search the available content, type a search term.
    • To filter the list by license type, click License Type and select Student Purchase Required or Inclusive Access.
    1. Click Link to Course next to your textbook.
    2. Click Continue.
  6. Complete the details for your Blackboard course.
    Field Notes
    Course Name Include the academic term in the course name.
    Start date

    Set the start date to the first day of class. It is the first day students can access your course and the beginning of your students' temporary access period. It cannot be changed after students access the course.

    End date

    To allow your students to view their grades and complete late work, consider setting this 1 week after the last day of class.

    Time Zone

    Assignment dates and times are based on the time zone you select.

  7. Click Continue.
  8. Select content to include in your course and Blackboard gradebook.

    You can return to add more content at any point during your course.

  9. Optional: To preview an assignment, click preview assignment.

    The assignment opens in a new tab.

  10. Click Continue.
  11. Set how many attempts students have for each type of Cengage Infuse assignment.
  12. Click Save.
  13. Blackboard Original: Review the settings, select where to put your course links, and click Submit.
