Create the Cengage Tool

To enable instructors to integrate their LTI Advantage LMS and Cengage courses, create and register the Cengage tool.

Important If your LMS supports dynamic LTI Advantage registration, enter the LTI Advantage Registration Tool URL from your email instead of manually creating and registering the Cengage tool.

If you have problems after dynamic LTI Advantage registration, check that the new tool's settings are as described here.

Follow the steps for your LMS to create an LTI 1.3 tool and enable LTI Advantage services. The following information can be used along with the configuration parameters from the Cengage email to complete the tool setup.

Manual Registration

After creating the Cengage tool in your LMS, register the tool with Cengage.

Note Not needed for dynamic LTI Advantage registration.
  1. Open the email message you received from Cengage with your tool configuration details and click Complete Registration.
    Note If the self-registration link has expired, click Send Email button to request a new registration email. When you receive the new email, click Complete Registration.
  2. On the tool registration page, enter the values configured in your LMS for the Cengage tool:
    • Issuer
    • Client id
    • JWKS URI
    • Token endpoint
    • OIDC Auth Request endpoint

    Use the steps for your LMS to retrieve this information for an LTI 1.3 tool.

  3. Click Register.

    A message indicates that the Cengage tool was registered successfully.
