Inferential Statistics

Use the Inferential Statistics tab to conduct hypothesis tests and compute confidence intervals.

  1. Under Settings, select the procedure to perform.
    • One Sample t
    • One Sample Proportion
    • Two Sample t
    • Two Sample Proportion
    • Paired t
    • Chi-Square Test for Independence
    • Chi-Square Test for Homogeneity
    • Chi-Square Goodness-of-Fit
    • ANOVA
  2. Input your Sample Mean, Sample St. Dev, and Sample Size in their respective fields.
  3. Click Generate Results.
  4. Optional: If you are using an existing dataset, select the variables you want to analyze from the Sample Variable #1 and/or Sample Variable #2 dropdowns.

The Sample Mean, Sample St. Dev. and Sample Size will automatically populate.

Note For one-sample procedures, you can choose a dataset variable if the correct variable type exists in your selected dataset.

If the selected variable is categorical, set Success Group to the outcome defined to be the successful outcome.

  5. To run a hypothesis test:
    1. Select Hypothesis Test.
    2. Select the type of Alternative Hypothesis to use.
    3. Optional: For two sample t calculations, select Assume Equal Variances only if you are assuming equal variances for the pooled t procedure.
    4. Click Generate Results.
  6. To run a confidence interval:
    1. Select Confidence Interval.
    2. Set the Confidence Interval value.
    3. Optional: For two sample t calculations, select Assume Equal Variances only if you have pooled variances.
    4. Click Generate Results.

The test data are displayed.

If needed, click beside a variable to clear it.
