Cannot See Datasets in SALT
Datasets might not load or transfer properly in SALT questions if browser extensions are enabled. They can disrupt the data transfer in SALT even if it initially appears successful.

Upload Data
Upload a file from your device to the SALT website to perform analyses.
Select a Dataset
Use the Dataset tab to select, preview, and edit the data used for SALT operations. Choose from existing datasets or upload your own data. When opening SALT from a WebAssign question, the dataset for that question is automatically selected.
Download Dataset
Download existing files from the SALT dataset hub site to a local device.
Frequency and Contingency Tables
Some WebAssign questions display frequency or contingency tables instead of dataset values when you click .
Edit Variables
To add or remove the dataset variables used for statistical operations, or to use a numerical variable categorically, edit the variables. The filtered data can also be saved to create a new dataset.
Numerical
numerical In a SALT dataset, quantitative values that are used as the basis for numerical analyses. Examples include measurements, prices, or counts of things.
Categorical
categorical In a SALT dataset, qualitative values that are used to organize or categorize data. Examples include ICD-9 codes, dates, or names of things or people.
Distribution Calculators
Use the Distribution Calculators tab to analyze probability distributions.
Regression
Use the Regression tab to run simple linear regressions.
Charts and Graphs
Use the Charts and Graphs tab to visualize your selected dataset.
Delete Values
If needed, remove a value from your dataset.
Descriptive Statistics
Use the Descriptive Statistics tab to display summary statistics for your selected dataset.
Edit Values
If needed, edit a value in your dataset.
Inferential Statistics
Use the Inferential Statistics tab to conduct hypothesis tests and compute confidence intervals.
Sampling
Use the Sampling tab to generate samples from a population.
Add Values
If needed, add data to your dataset.
Filter Dataset by Values
To restrict the dataset used for statistical operations, create filters for dataset variables. The filtered data can also be saved to create a new dataset.

Csv
comma-separated value (CSV) A text representation of tabular data delimited by commas. comma-separated value (CSV) CSV
Dataset Types
When you upload a custom dataset, you must choose the correct dataset type. You can upload raw datasets, frequency tables, and contingency tables.
