Copy a SAM Course to a New Moodle Course

Copy an existing SAM course to a new Moodle™ course. You can copy your own SAM course or another instructor's course.

To copy another instructor's course, ask the instructor for the course key of the course to be copied.

In the SAM course, the course instructor can click ? > SAM LMS Integration CourseKeys to see the course key.

Important You can copy LMS-integrated SAM courses only.
  1. Open your Moodle course.
  2. Click actions menu > Turn editing on.
  3. Click Add an activity or resource.
  4. Select the Cengage tool and click Add.

    The Cengage tool is created and named by your Moodle administrator.

  5. If prompted, sign in to your Cengage instructor account to link your Moodle and Cengage accounts.

    If you don't have a Cengage instructor account, click Create Account.

  6. On the Integrate with Cengage page, click Select Platform.
  7. On the License Type page, select the payment method applicable to your class.

    Very often, only one license type is available.

    1. Click Continue.
  8. On the Course Option page, select a copy option.

    To copy your own course:

    1. Select Copy an existing course.

      Your courses for the selected title are listed.

    2. Select the course you want to copy.
    3. Click Continue.

    To copy another teacher's course:

    1. Select Copy another instructor's course with a course key.
    2. Enter the course key and click Verify.
    3. Click Continue.
  9. Create a course link or select learning activities to link from Moodle.

    To create direct links to learning activities:

    You can also create a course link with this option.

    1. Click Select Content.
  10. Click Continue.
  11. Save your changes at the bottom of the page.

    Click either Save and return to course or Save and display.

  12. Click the link to your SAM course and verify that it's set up how you want.

    If prompted, read and accept the service agreement.
