Copy a Section

Create a new section by copying an existing one using the same textbook and content version. You can copy up to 5 sections at once.

This section does not apply to LMS Integrated SAM.

  1. In the navigation bar, click Sections.

    Your sections are listed.

    The list of sections includes the Microsoft Office® content version for the section.

    1. Optional: Use the search menu to find matching sections.
    2. Optional: Click a section name to view more information about the section.
  2. Select a section and click Copy.
  3. In Copies, enter the number of section copies to make.
  4. Optional: Select Copy Gradebook Settings to copy the section Gradebook settings.
    Copied settings include:
    • Whether scores display in points or percent
    • Assignment types
    • Assignment weights
  5. Select the assignments you want to copy.
    Edit assignment names as needed.
  6. Adjust scheduling dates and options as needed.
    Note

    Assignment dates, late submission settings, and passwords are copied automatically unless a date has already passed. If a date has passed, a new date must be added.

    Set late submission settings and passwords for the new date as needed.

    • To let students access assignments throughout the course without penalty, turn on Always Available.
    • Click Schedule to set new dates, late submission settings, and passwords.
  7. Enter any necessary changes to the section properties.

    You cannot have the same Section Name, Term and Year combination within an institution.

  8. Click Edit instructors to add or modify instructors in the new section.
    1. Edit the instructors and ownership.
    2. Click Save and Close.
  9. Optional: To remove a section copy, click Delete copied section.
  10. Optional: To add a section copy, click Add a Copy.
