Schedule a Critical Thinking Challenge exam to help students build critical thinking skills. In this exam type, students are given a scenario and challenged to achieve the best results based on a series of decisions.
Critical Thinking Challenge exams are available only for Office 2019 and Office 365/2021.
- On the navigation bar, click SAM Assignments.

Click Exams.
The Exams page lists all existing exams.
To do this Do this View exams you created Click My Exams. View public exams created by others Click Other Exams. Sort the list Click a column heading. Preview an exam Click beside the exam name. Find a specific exam Type part of the exam name in the search box. - To view only Critical Thinking Challenge exams, click T4S Critical Thinking.
- Click next to an exam.

Set the options for the exam.
- Assignment Name
- Unique name for your assignment.
- Instructions
- Additional instructions for students.
- Scoring and Delivery Options
- Configure your exam.

- Allow SAM exam to be retaken
- Students can retake the exam 1-50 times before submitting it for a final grade.
- Modify Scoring
- Adjust the points students earn for making sub-optimal or incorrect choices in the critical thinking scenario. Correct choices are scored at 100%.
- Display results at end of exam
- Show students their score after they finish the exam.
- Select Section

Sections for which the assignment is scheduled.
Your assignment can only be scheduled in sections using the same content version. A warning displays if you have already scheduled the assignment for any of the selected sections.

- Set rules for student access and submission.

- Set the date an assignment is available.
- Specify exam times and passwords
- If you set availability dates, you can restrict student access to test assignments for increased testing security by setting specific testing times and passwords. Set Test Times and Passwords
- Late Submission Options
- If you set availability dates, you can allow penalized submissions after the due date.
- Daily % reduction
- The amount by which the student's assignment grade is reduced for each day after the due date.
- End Date
- The last date on which a late submission will be accepted. No late submissions are accepted after 11:59PM on this date.
- Specify when students can view reports

- Never make reports available to students
- Make student reports always available beginning 12:00 AM
Select the first date on which reports are available.
- Make student reports available
Select both start and end dates and times for reports to be available.
- Click Save.
- When you see the message SAM has scheduled your exam, click OK.
