Integrate SAM With Your LMS Course

Your LMS administrator must have set up the Cengage tool in LMS.

With this integration:

  • You and your students access your SAM courses from LMS.
  • You can sync students' individual activity scores to LMS.

How do I know if I'm using this integration?

Your Cengage tool will be in a different location depending on which integration you are using.

These instructions are for an older version of the integration which uses a Cengage navigation item in your course navigation. If you have a Cengage navigation item that works, you are using this integration.

Google Classroom Versions

How you add SAM content to your Google Classroom depends on if your school uses Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals/Standard or Google Workspace for Education Plus.

To see which version your school uses, open the assignment editor and look for the Add-ons panel.
  • If your assignment has Add-ons, your school uses Google Workspace for Education Plus.
  • If your assignment does not have Add-ons, your school uses Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals/Standard.

Multisection Courses

LMS sections must be created and linked before you begin integrating SAM courses. LMS permits section linking when enabled by your school or district administrator.

Each LMS section will be linked to a SAM course.

  1. Create your multisection LMS course.
  2. Link your first LMS section to a new SAM course.
    1. Create a New LMS-Integrated SAM Course
    2. Add Links in LMS to SAM Activities and Resources
  3. Set up your SAM course.

Finish setting up your course before copying it over to the rest of your LMS sections, so you only have to make these changes once.

  4. In your LMS section, click the Cengage link you just created.
Cengage opens in a new tab.
  5. In LMS, open the next section and click the Cengage link.
The Cengage course linking page opens in a new tab.
  6. Link the LMS section to a copy of your SAM course.
    1. Copy a SAM Course to a New LMS Course
    2. Add Links in LMS to SAM Activities and Resources
  7. Repeat this process for each section in your LMS course.
