Create a New Moodle-Integrated CNOWv2 Course

If you have not created the CNOWv2 course you want to integrate with Moodleâ„¢, create it from Moodle.
  1. Open your Moodle course.
  2. Click actions menu > Turn editing on.
  3. Click Add an activity or resource.
  4. Select the Cengage tool and click Add.

    The Cengage tool is created and named by your Moodle administrator.

  5. Under General, click Select content.
    Note The Activity Name and Tool URL are set automatically after selecting the content.
  6. If prompted, sign in to your Cengage instructor account to link your Moodle and Cengage accounts.

    If you don't have a Cengage instructor account, click Create Account.

  7. Click Add Homework Platform.
  8. Select the textbook or product you want to use from the available course content.
    • To search the available content, type a search term.
    • To see only CNOWv2 results, click Filter and set Filter By to CengageNOWv8.
    • To filter the list by license type, click Filter and set the dropdown to Student Purchase Required or Inclusive Access.
    • To select an item, click Link to Course.

    The selected title is shown with CNOWv2 course creation and linking options.

  9. Select Create a new CengageNOWv2 course (I will add assignments later).
  10. Complete the details for your CNOWv2 course.
    Field Notes
    Course Name
    Tip Include the academic term in the course name.
    Course Start Date

    This date is both the first day students can access your course and the beginning of your students' temporary access period. It cannot be changed after students access the course.

    Course End Date

    To allow your students to view their grades and complete late work, consider setting this 1 week after the last day of class.

    Course Number Optional: Include your course number.
    Time Zone

    Assignment dates and times are based on the time zone you select.

  11. Click Continue.
  12. If prompted, select whether to add a total score column to the Moodle gradebook.

    This option is not available for all courses.

    Note Category scores can not be synced to Moodle.
    Note In Moodle versions older than 3.10, each activity link must be added individually. In this case, consider using the CNOWv2 gradebook to calculate an overall course score for all CNOWv2 activities and syncing that course score to Moodle instead.
    1. Click Continue to confirm your choice.

    A link to the integrated CNOWv2 course is added to your Moodle course.

  13. Save your changes at the bottom of the page.

    Click either Save and return to course or Save and display.

  14. Click the link to your CNOWv2 course.

    If prompted, read and accept the service agreement.
