Add Links in LMS to MindTap Activities and Resources

If your LTI Advantage LMS is not otherwise specified, the following steps apply to any LTI Advantage compliant LMS.If your LTI 1.0 LMS is not otherwise specified, the following steps apply to any LTI 1.0 compliant LMS. After setting up your MindTap course, create links from LMS to activities or other content in MindTap. Linked graded activities are included in the LMS gradebook unless you choose to exclude them. Linked graded activities are included in the LMS gradebook.

Note Category scores can not be synced to LMS.

Note In Moodle™ versions older than 3.10, each activity link must be added individually. In this case, consider using the MindTap gradebook to calculate an overall course score for all MindTap activities and syncing that course score to Moodle instead.

Before adding links to MindTap activities, make sure your MindTap course is set up the way you want it.

Add and organize the assigned activities and course materials for your MindTap course.
Configure assignment settings such as grading, attempts, feedback, time limits, due dates, point values, and grade categories.

Best Practice Use consistent assignment settings and a consistent schedule for due dates and times.

Links created in this way are sometimes called deep links because they are not just web links but allow data to be exchanged between LMS and MindTap.

Open your LMS course.
Follow the steps for your LMS to access the Cengage tool.
Click Add Content > Add Learning App.
Click the Cengage tool.
If the tool is not available, contact your administrator.
On the Materials tab, click Add Materials > Cengage LMS Integration.
Open the Content Market.
1. Go to a content area in your course.
2. Blackboard Ultra: Click + > Content Market.
3. Blackboard Original: Click Partner Content > Content Market.
Click the Cengage tool.

A list of assigned activities for your linked MindTap course is shown.
Open the Course Builder tool.

In the Content tab, click Related Tools > Course Builder.
Drag from Add Content to your module.

Alternatively, click and select your module.
Select a location to add your new links.
Click > Turn editing on.
Click Add an activity or resource.
Select the Cengage tool and click Add.

The Cengage tool is created and named by your Moodle administrator.

The Willo tool is created and named by your Moodle administrator.

If a Willo tool is not listed:
1. Select External tool and click Add.
2. Under General > Preconfigured tool, select the Willo tool.
Under General, click Select content.

Note The Activity Name and Tool URL are set automatically after selecting the content.
From the course navigation, click Cengage.

If you get an error message when you click Cengage, see LTI Advantage.

Select your linked MindTap course from the list of content sources.

Click the Cengage tool.
If the tool is not available, contact your administrator.
Click Select Content.
Select activities to include in your course.

Note Selecting a group of activities does not select all activities in the group. You must select each activity individually.
Expand or collapse the course outline if needed.

Note When using Willo, it's not possible to add activities to the LMS gradebook without also adding an activity link to your LMS course.

By default, when you include a graded activity it is added to the LMS gradebook.

If your school uses a LMS LTI Advantage integration, due dates set in your MindTap course are synced to LMS. Any changes you make to due dates in your MindTap course overwrite dates set in your LMS course. For consistency, make sure your MindTap and LMS courses are set to the same time zone.

If your school uses a LMS Partner integration, due and available dates set in your MindTap course are synced to LMS. Any changes you make to due and available dates in your MindTap course sync to your LMS course. For consistency, make sure your MindTap and LMS courses are set to the same time zone.

Due dates set in your MindTap course do not sync to your LMS course.

Scores sync automatically when assignment attempts are submitted in MindTap and when you enter or edit scores in your MindTap gradebook.

Configure grade syncing with LMS.

Note Depending on your course and LMS configuration, some of the following options might not be available.

To do this	Do this
Add a graded activity to the LMS gradebook	Select Add to Gradebook for the activity.
Exclude a graded activity from the LMS gradebook	Clear Add to Gradebook for the activity.
Add a graded activity to the LMS gradebook without adding the activity link	Select Add to Gradebook. Clear Add to Course.
Sync only the overall course score and not individual activity scores	Click Activity Scores > Course Score. Click Synchronize Overall Course Score.
Sync individual activity scores (after previously choosing to sync the course score)	Click Course Score > Activity Scores. Click Synchronize Individual Activity Scores.

Scores sync automatically when assignment attempts are submitted in MindTap and when you enter or edit scores in your MindTap gradebook.

Click Continue.
Blackboard Original: Review the settings, select where to put your course links, and click Submit.
Save your changes at the bottom of the page.

Click either Save and return to course or Save and display.
Optional: Repeat these steps to add another link.

The content page displays all the links you have added to your MindTap course and activities.

The selected links are added to the module.

Your link is added to the Sakai® Lessons area.

If needed, you can reorganize the links in LMS.
