Manually Grade Activities

Find and grade activities in your course that require manual grading.

Before you begin

This task is different depending on the version of MindTap used in your class.

If these directions do not match what you see in your class, click MindTap version in the toolbar above and select your MindTap version.

  1. In the toolbar, click Progress.
  2. To display only activities that require manual grading, click Needs Manual Grading.

  3. Locate your activity and click Grade Now.

    Manually graded activities display Manually Graded.

  4. Click a student's name from the list on the left to view their submission.
    Students with ungraded questions display Not Graded next to their name.
    Note

    If the activity allows multiple submissions, each submission will need to be manually graded.

  5. To grade student responses individually:
    1. Click questions in the Question list to view the student's response.
    2. Enter the score for a question under Score.
    3. Click Save Changes.
  6. To assign full credit to multiple students:
    1. Select multiple students from the list, or select Select All Students.
    2. Click Assign Full Credit.

  2. To display only activities that require manual grading, click Needs Manual Grading.

  3. Locate your activity and click Grade Now.

  4. Click a student's name to view their attempt.

    Student names are listed in the Roster panel on the left, or in a dropdown list at the top of the assignment.

    Students with ungraded attempts are shown in the roster with Pending Grading next to their name.

  5. Read and grade a response.
    1. Click the Question tab in the panel on the right.
    2. Set a value for Question Points.
      • To give 0%, click Zero Credit.
      • To give 100%, click Full Credit.
      • To give partial credit, click Adjust question points and enter how many points the student should receive.
    3. Optional: To leave feedback, enter a message in Question Comment and click Post Comment.
  6. To open another manually-graded question, click the dropdown question list at the top of the assignment and select a question labeled Manually Graded.
  7. To view other attempts from this student, select a numbered attempt in the Attempt dropdown list.
  8. Optional: Change the overall activity score.
    1. Click the Activity tab in the panel on the right.
    2. Click Adjust Points and enter a new overall point value for the activity.
      A message warns that this cannot be undone.
    3. Click Adjust Points to confirm the new activity grade.
  9. Optional: Leave feedback on the overall activity.
    To leave a written comment:
    1. Click the Activity tab in the panel on the right.
    2. Click Write Comment.
    3. Enter a message in Question Comment.
    4. Click Post Comment.
    To leave an audio comment:
    1. Click the Activity tab in the panel on the right.
    2. Click Record Audio Comment.
    3. Click Record your audio and record your message.
    4. To stop recording, click Stop recording.
    5. Click Post Comment.
